The National Federation of the Blind Performing Arts Division, a strong and proud division of the National Federation of the Blind, works to provide equality and opportunity to blind performers. If you would like to pursue a career in the performing arts, blindness should not hold you back. We seek to connect blind performers of any genre and experience level so that we may share tips and strategies and learn from one another. It is our goal to educate the public on the capabilities of the blind who choose to work in the performing arts or perform for recreation. We invite you to stand alongside us as we remove barriers and encourage each other to take the stage and live out our dreams.
Facial Expressions and Gestures as a Blind Actor – Thursday, March 30, 8 PM Eastern!
Hello Performers!
Do you ever wonder, how do you express yourself on stage? How can blind people authentically learn and create facial expressions, gestures, and body movement so we compete with our sighted peers? What tips and tricks have you learned to engage your audience and tell your story while performing? To discuss all these questions and more, join the National Federation of the Blind Performing Arts Division for our upcoming membership call all about facial expressions, gestures, and being comfortable in your body on stage. All are welcome, whatever your acting proficiency! We will hear from three experienced blind actors in varying stages of their careers, Madie Hendrix, Cristina Jones, and Katelyn MacIntyre, and there will be plenty of time for questions and to share your own ideas.

About the National Federation of the Blind
The National Federation of the Blind (NFB), headquartered in Baltimore, is the oldest and largest nationwide organization of blind Americans. Founded in 1940, the NFB consists of affiliates, chapters, and divisions in the fifty states, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico. The NFB defends the rights of blind people of all ages and provides information and support to families with blind children, older Americans who are losing vision, and more. We believe in the hopes and dreams of blind people and work together to transform them into reality. Learn more about our many programs and initiatives at www.nfb.org.
The National Federation of the Blind knows that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or your future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. You can live the life you want; blindness is not what holds you back.
